For any budding young athlete who has ever been rained out of a game, the idea of an indoor sports structure makes perfect sense.

An Indoor Sports Structure Allows the Game to Go On

It is true: a temporary fabric structure (TFS) makes sports possible under practically any conditions where they never were in the past.  Schools love them and parents thank heaven for them since it keeps their kids on track with sports.

Of course, kids love the fact that they can play sports no matter what is happening with the weather.

That goes for young team players who have been disappointed by game cancellations due to other types of weather: lightning, high winds, too much sun and heat, or just too darn little.

Sometimes, However, Kids want to be Outside

Parents, schools, and kids love what is made possible by the indoor sports structure. However, on a beautiful spring day when the air is crisp and there is a slight breeze, what kid wants to play indoors?

What covered him and protected her from the elements in harsh weather is now a deterrent to fully enjoying the great outdoors. Like the winter coat she can’t wait to shed, the indoor sports structure is for a harsher season when the game simply cannot be held out-of-doors.

Allsite’s TFS Help the Games Go On

Kids all over the world need to be protected from the elements.  Some climates serve up intense heat while others offer up a bitter cold that takes your breath away.  Good thing the Precontraint 602/702 fabrics used in Allsite’s TFS features the following:

  • heat resistance up to 70°C/158°F
  • cold resistance down to -30°C/-22°F
  • UV resistance

In case your weather gets truly nasty and dangerous, your kids will still be protected.  The fabric used in every Allsite indoor sports structure is flame resistant, so come hell or high water, the games will go on.

What’s more, the fabric has been tested under the most rigorous of conditions and has been registered and approved by the California State Fire Marshal as a flame resistant material.

With all that said, however, sometimes kids just want to enjoy the fresh air and play outdoors.  That is why Allsite provides choices when it comes to configuring your indoor sports structure.

Good Thing Our TFS Come With Options

Of course the column-free interior space makes our TFS ideal for sports, and our optional HVAC and ventilation systems make for a climate-controlled wonderland of non-stop sports activities unhampered by the weather.

But for those beautiful Spring days when everybody wants to take in the fresh air while they enjoy the game, we have the perfect optional package for that, too.

You see, Allsite’s fabric structures come with the option of having totally retractable walls.

That means, when the weather outside is gorgeous, there is no need to miss one moment of the beautiful day or evening.  Roll back the walls of your indoor sports structure and voila… the outdoors comes right inside.

Retractable Walls Allow the Free Flow of Fresh Air

Kids will love that they can play with a slight breeze and plenty of wonderful fresh air.  Parents will love that their kids are still protected from the sun’s UV rays by the fabric roof.  Facility managers will love that they can shut off HVAC units and lower their maintenance bills.

There is another benefit, too:

Fresh Air is Good for Our Brains

Everyone knows we all spend too much time indoors.  Did you know today’s kids spend 2 hours less on sports each week than kids of 20 years ago?  Being outdoors decreases stress in everyone.  For kids, however, the benefits of fresh air are even more pronounced.

According to information compiled by the National Wildlife Federation, kids benefit in at least 10 different ways from being in the open air.  This includes:

  • stronger bones from Vitamin D from minimal exposure to the sun
  • improved eyesight
  • less depression
  • more creative
  • better social skills

Finally, consider that the air outdoors is healthier than indoor air.  We cannot always be outdoors, but isn’t it nice to know you have the option to bring the outdoors in when you have an indoor sports structure?  Retractable walls make all this possible.

If you would like to learn more about all the different optional customizations available for Allsite’s tensioned fabric structures, give us a call.  We can show you how to make your TFS perfect for anything you have in mind.
